Gerontological Nursing: Enhance Your Expertise in Elderly Care

We are delighted to offer our members a great opportunity for professional growth and development in the realm of Gerontological Nursing. Hosted by one of Europe’s foremost institutions dedicated to ageing, the 5-day Foundation Course in Gerontological Nursing is set to commence on 12 October 2023.

Ireland’s population is aging at an increasing rate. The course is designed to empower nurses with important knowledge and skills to address the needs of older people across diverse care settings, including acute, residential, rehabilitation, and community environments. It fosters the cultivation of the gerontological nurse’s role as a crucial component of any multidisciplinary team offering comprehensive care.

By the end of the programme, participants will have gained a profound grasp of the prevalent conditions and illnesses commonly encountered by older individuals, a heightened awareness of the significance of person-centred care for the elderly, an in-depth understanding of the natural ageing process, the aptitude to deliver holistic care tailored to the older person, and the acumen to seamlessly integrate specialised gerontological expertise into their caregiving practices.
