Course Description


New for 2023, this 3-week programme provides newly established GPs, GP Assistants & GP Registrars with the knowledge, skills and tools to confidently embark on a career in General Practice.  The programme is practical in that it will provide participants with all of the information needed to address the many very real challenges that GPs experience in the early weeks and months of working in a Practice.  


AIM

The aim of this program is to provide practical and relevant information to support newly established GPs, GP Assistants and GP Registrars. It will cover the practical information that you need to know when joining an existing Practice & setting up in Practice for the first time.  It is also designed for GP Registrars who are considering next steps on completion of the GP Training scheme.


OBJECTIVES

  • Basic Requirements for Independent General Practice
  • How to work effective with and for others in the Practice Team
  • Manage transition from Employee to Employer
  • State Contracts held by GPs
  • Knowledge of Partnership models
  • Setting up and registering for State Contract

4.   Managing the team and Practice roles
5.   Understanding state schemes and contracts
6.   Partnership models – exploring the options


DELIVERY

The programme is delivered over 3 weeks with one live webinar per week. All recordings and resources are accessed through a secure online portal.

All live Webinars take place on Thursdays from 12.30pm to 2.00pm through Zoom


EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT

There is no formal evaluation to pass the programme.

There is adequate time given for full interaction and for participants to ask questions on the various topics.


CERTIFICATION

All Participants receive a Best Practice Certificate on completion of the programme.

FEES

The subsidised cost of the Practice Management Plus programme is €485 per learner for LHP Skillnet member companies. The non-subsidised cost is €695 per learner.
