HIQA’s Fire Safety Handbook: Requirements and Application (19 July 2023)

Course Description

Aim

This course will assist participants to understand the requirements of the handbook, the governance model required to support its implementation and the documentation framework to ensure its application.

  • The basis for HIQA Fire Safety Handbook
  • Trends and analysis: HIQA findings in relation to fire safety regarding fire safety and prevention
  • Fire safety regulatory requirements
  • Developing a fire safety management programme
  • Required governance model to support fire safety
  • Completing an operational review of fire safety within the service
  • Completing fire risk assessments
  • Implementing fire precautions
  • Required fire safety equipment
  • Identifying residents individual needs in relation to fire safety, development and update of PEEPs and allocation of evacuation aids
  • Developing an evacuation strategy, procedure, and fire drills
  • Required fire safety staff training
  • Ongoing inspection, audit, and evaluation of fire safety within the service

Workshop Delivery

The workshop will be presented via Zoom, with interactive sessions and workshops provided throughout. Training will run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The workshop will be delivered by a senior member of HCI’s Quality and Safety Team.

Who Should Attend

RP/GM/RPR, PIC, Deputy PIC, CNM, H&S Rep

Certification

Learners who successfully complete the workshop will be awarded a certificate of attendance from LHP Skillnet.

Fees

The subsidised cost of this workshop is €135 per learner for LHP Skillnet member companies. Non-members are welcome to book the workshop at the full price of €210.

To be eligible for the subsidised price you must be working in the private healthcare sector in Ireland. Otherwise the full price applies.
