Where COVID-19 outbreaks have occurred the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) has requested residential care settings to undertake an internal review that will include the identification, recording, investigation and learning from the outbreak in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the residents in any future outbreaks. The purpose of this programme is to provide practical tools and techniques to implement the internal review process and develop a framework for the ongoing safety of residents.



Course Aim

This workshop will provide a framework for residential care providers to:

  • understand the stages required for such a review
  • analyse their own services in light of the requirements of the review
  • develop these findings into a plan for the implementation of a safer system of care.

 

Course Objectives and Learning Outcomes

The workshop falls into three stages:

Stage 1. Rationale Pre-Review: Design and Prepare
Stage 2. Conduct the Review: Audit and Source Feedback
Stage 3. Post-Review: Report and Action Plan Implementation

The workshops is delivered over two 90-minute webinar sessions, by HCI’s experienced quality and resident safety specialists.

Participants will also receive documents/tools such as the COVID-19 Review Implementation Plan, the COVID-19 Review Audit Tool, and the COVID-19 Review Survey Template.
