This one day workshop was designed by highly qualified and experienced healthcare professionals for Healthcare Assistants based on the ‘Early Warning Scoring'' (EWS) systems used in modern hospitals. It is based on the maxim of 'prevention rather than cure'. Healthcare Assistants possibly spend the most time with residents/patients at the bedside and elsewhere, and this course aims to deliver to ‘front line' training, encouraging HCAs in their role to be more observant, improving their skills in spotting a sick or deteriorating resident and teaching the importance of proactive and harmonious communication with other team members, recognizing the vital part they play in caring for people in the community, but most importantly enabling them to play a greater part within the ‘care team', ensuring their contribution to safe and effective care is rewarded (both personally and professionally) and that they feel valued.
